Background
Neve Tzuf was established in 1987 and is now home to about 300 families. The population is Modern Orthodox, and many families are the second generation in the yishuv – children who grew up in Neve Tzuf and chose to build their own homes in the same place. Neve Tzuf is located in west Binyamin in the heart of a natural forest, and is known for its unique beauty in an area surrounded by a series of green mountains, reminiscent of a biblical landscape.
History and Location of the Yishuv
Neve Tzuf is in west Binyamin, a 20-minute drive from Modi’in and about 45 minutes away from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The local mountain ridge is called Gofna Mountains, named after the Jewish capital city of this region during the second Temple era. Its ancient residents were farmers and winemakers. In the heart of the yishuv, there is a unique archaeological structure that was apparently used for producing an especially sweet type of wine during the Temple period. There is also a historical fortress in the yishuv that was built by the British Mandate 90 years ago, in addition to the many artifacts that can be found throughout the yishuv.
The Community
The community in Neve Tzuf is warm, friendly and highly involved in mutual assistance. Throughout the years, various projects have been set up to help families of Olim from different countries acclimate and settle into their new homes.
Community and cultural activities in the yishuv are diverse and include content appropriate for the entire population or for different age groups. Throughout the year, there are programs for children and families, special activities for young couples, cultural events and programs for the senior citizens of the community.
